Nigerian Government to institute tourist visa

Minister for Tourism, Culture and National Orientation, Prince Adetokunbo Kayode announced plans for a special tourist visa to streamline tourism in the country, reports Leadership Nigeria.

The Prince said the Nigerian visa will tighten border security and will help to keep track of the whereabouts of tourists while in the country.  It is hoped the new measures will increase tourism to Nigeria and encourage tourism development.

"We should be able to ensure that those who want to visit Nigeria do so with the least discomfort," he told reporters.

The Government is also going to campaign in Europe and the US to entice travellers to the country.

"In our effort to implement an aggressive promotion and marketing of Nigeria tourism, we are talking with African Travel Association (ATA) in our efforts to brand and market Nigeria.  ATA will also be used to market Nigeria in Europe and USA," he added.
