UK Work Permits - Tier 1

Tier 1 UK work permits can be broken down into the following 5 categories.

• Intra Company Transfers - These are transfers from one branch of an international company to the UK branch. It is essential that the employee has gained specific knowledge of the company overseas which are required to carry out the role in the UK. This experience needs to have been gained over at least a 6 month period
• Shortage Occupations - These are jobs that are listed as being in high demand and for which there is an insufficent resident workforce, resulting in their listing on the Shortage Occupations List. The post does not need to be advertised for these positions.
• Senior Board-Level Posts - Applicants normally need 3 years' experience at the level of the post on offer.
• Inward Investment Posts - these are posts which are essential to a company which is making a minimum investment of £250,000. It is expected that the UK will benefit from this in terms of job creation.
• Sponsored Researchers- these are for people that are coming to the UK for a period of research work but are still employed by, and being paid by, a company abroad.

It is vital that the employer can show that the business is genuine and that there is a genuine requirement for the intended role. In addition the proposed employee who is to fill the role, must be suitably skilled and/or qualified for it, meeting the basic requirements.

Visa Conditions

A successful applicant is given up to 5 years to live and work in the UK for that employer. After being in the UK for that period you may be eligible to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR), also known as Permanent Residency.
