Minnelli highlights need for correct UK work permit
Liza Minelli has highlighted the need for travellers and people engaged in UK immigration to have the correct visa. The star experienced embarrassment on arrival at London's Heathrow airport when she was informed she did not have the correct UK work permit to enter the country, reports the Daily Telegraph.
Officials at the airport told the star, who is due to begin her first UK tour for 20 years, she would be unable to perform without the correct UK work permit. However, the singer managed to resolve the situation hours before going on stage, avoiding cancellation of the show, according to the newspaper.
A spokesperson for the star said: "Liza's team had applied for the correct permit but it seems that they under-estimated just how much time it would take to process." The incident is a warning to people seeking a UK work permit or UK visa to enter the country. The UK government has recently created a long-term premium visa for regular visitors to the country, to make the process smoother and quicker.
Anyone interested in getting a better understanding of their current position under UK visa regulations should request a call from a qualified UK Visa Bureau migration consultant to see if they are eligible for migration to the UK, or call direct on Freephone 0800 043 7011. Alternatively, HSMP visa hopefuls should try taking the HSMP online assessment.
