UK Visa application centre in Japan has re-opened
The UK Visa application centre in Tokyo re-opened yesterday after closing due to the earthquake in the country.
The UK Immigration department advises those applying for a visa to check the UK Embassy in Tokyo website for details of the impact on visa services, alternative application arrangements and regular updates.
UK Visa applicants should be aware that due to the disruption caused by the earthquake and tsunamis, visa processing times may be longer than usual.
Despite the delays it is expected that all non-settlement applications will be processed within the 15 working day target. The Osaka visa application centre remains open and is currently processing non-settlement applications within five working days.
The UK Border Agency would like to reassure any Japanese nationals unable to leave the UK due to the situation in Japan. The agency appreciates that this was due to exceptional circumstances and those in this situation should keep their proof of original travel plans and make arrangements while they prepare to leave the country as soon as practicable.
