The number of Saudis visiting the United Kingdom is on the increase, British officials say.
By the end of September this year 79,000 UK visas were issued in Saudi Arabia, an increase of 1,000 for the time last year, and it is thought the number of UK visas issued may well hit the 100,000 mark this year.
The vast majority of UK visa applicants are Saudis, with around a fifth from expatriates, with most visas for tourism purposes followed by UK student visas.
By the end of September, 15,500 UK student visas were issued to Saudis wishing to study in the UK, and more applications are expected for the last quarter of 2009.
The result is well above last year’s figure of 17,500 UK student visas for Saudis.
