London: 'Best UK City'
London has been voted the best UK city to visit at the Conde Nast Traveller Reader Travel Awards, reports BBC News.
Thousands of readers of the travel magazine voted on the best cities, countries and travel companies, and London city came out on top of the list. London’s nightlife, entertainment, culture and restaurants beat all other cities in the UK, according to the poll.
London’s Mayor Boris Johnson told reporters said the award was proof that London is remaining a competitor in the global tourist market. "Tourism is key to the capital's economy and it's vital that we remain ahead of the competition attracting visitors from around the world all year round," he added.
Visit London Chief Executive James Bidwell said, "London is the greatest city on earth and we welcome this Conde Nast Award in recognition of our truly global status."
To visit the UK, only nationals listed in the visa and transit visa nationals need to apply for a UK visa, or if you hold a passport that is not recognised by the UK Border Control. UK visit visas remain valid for 6 months. For all other nationals, you can visit the UK for no more than six months and must be able to show that you are leaving no later than this date and have enough money to support yourself until then.
