New Zealand Immigration requires occupational registration for some professions to ensure applicants who are seeking employment in New Zealand in occupations for which registration is required have the ability to undertake those jobs.

The assessing bodies responsible for granting occupational registration are often the industry bodies who regulate the profession in New Zealand, and in many cases the applicant's eligibility for migration will be determined in part by this registration.

• Electricians, Electrical Service Technicians and Line Mechanics;

• Medical Practitioners;
• Medical Personnel (Chiropractors, Dieticians, Dispensing Opticians, Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technologist, Medical Laboratory Technicians, Medical Radiation Technologists, Occupational Therapists, Optometrists, Podiatrists and Psychologists);
• Pharmacists;
• Physiotherapists;

Evidence of registration to work in jobs in New Zealand will be required at the time of application for migration.
