British workers interested in New Zealand immigration

Hundreds of British workers have attended a UK Opportunities Expo in London, exploring the many skilled job opportunities available through New Zealand immigration. The expo was promoting career opportunities in Auckland, as well as the lifestyle advantages of moving to New Zealand.

Auckland is experiencing a shortage of skilled workers in many sectors and Auckland Chamber of Commerce chief executive Michael Barnett was encouraged that as many as 700 qualified people attending the expo were well informed and excited about living, working and raising their families in New Zealand.

The New Zealand Immigration Service is fast-tracking the process of linking applications from skilled people interested in New Zealand immigration with registered job vacancies.
Mr Barnett explained the effect of this: "I would expect that many of those who attended the Expo could be re-settled into Auckland within six months, up to 18 months faster than often occurs through the normal process."

"Processing applications for around 50 job vacancies for immediate positions, including a number of engineering roles, has commenced and should be filled within six months," he added.

New Zealand welcomes skilled migrants: Anyone applying for a New Zealand visa should begin by taking the New Zealand Visa Bureau's online New Zealand visa assessment to see if they meet the basic legislative requirements.
