NZ Residence Program details released

The New Zealand Immigration Department announced its annual quota for New Zealand residency approvals remained at 45,000 – 50,000 places.

A spokesperson from the Immigration Department has confirmed the pilgrims absconded from their billets around four to five days ago, reports AFP, and is concerned they are trying to stay in the country illegally.

Although their New Zealand visas have not yet expired, the Immigration Department want the young pilgrims to continue on their intended trip to the pope’s conference in Sydney.

More than one hundred thousand international visitors are expected to attend the event this year from 170 countries, with 70,000 arriving on an Australia visa, 4,000 arriving on New Zealand passports, and thousands obtaining visas through other avenues.
