Immigration New Zealand has cleared the backlog of New Zealand Student Visas.
10 August 2010
The head of the New Zealand immigration department has apologised to the international education industry for the unacceptable delays in processing thousands of student visas.

Immigration New Zealand has cleared the backlog of New Zealand Student Visas.
Some international students had been waiting up to five months without any word from the New Zealand immigration department about their applications.
Nigel Bickle said the backlog of 5500 New Zealand Student Visa applications was not good enough and the department was putting in place plans to ensure it did not happen again.
Mr Bickle said he had assured Immigration Minister Jonathan Coleman that the backlog would be processed by the end of July, and that target was nearly reached with all but 200 of the applications processed.
The New Zealand Visa Bureau is an independent consulting company specialising in helping people with their New Zealand Visa applications to the New Zealand Embassy.
