If you are interested in migrating to New Zealand as a business investor, then you will first have to complete an Investor Expression of Interest to be considered by New Zealand Immigration as a possible candidate.
The information provided to the NZIS at this stage will allow them to determine whether you are likely to meet the criteria for residence under the Investor category.
If you satisfy the criteria you will be invited to apply for residence, at which stage you will have to provide the necessary documentation to validate your Expression of Interest.

A condition of the Investor category is that applicants are able to invest NZ$2 million for 5 years, with an option after 2 years of removing part of these funds and investing in a New Zealand government approved business.
To invest in an approved business, you will need to submit a business plan to the NZIS for approval before your investment funds will be released to you. You may submit more than one business plan for different businesses over the balance of the 5 year investment period, and each plan must meet all of the criteria set by the NZIS.
Any return that your business makes is for your own personal use, although, funds withdrawn for the intention of investing in an approved New Zealand business must be for that purpose and not for personal use.
Your intention to invest in an approved business must be stated in your Expression of Interest.
