IT professionals needed for Canadian immigration
Canada is experiencing an IT skills crunch, according to a government and industry conference held in Ottawa this week. There are many career opportunities for British IT and information management professionals with Canadian visas, especially in the government sector.
Nikolas Florakas, directoral general for the Organisational Readiness Office of the Treasury Board of Canada said: "For the first time in many years, demand for IT professionals is greater than the supply."
He said government chief executives were making attracting and retaining IT workers a top priority over the past year. Computer sciences courses at Canadian universities are not providing enough skilled IT workers and foreign trained workers with Canadian visas are needed to meet the shortage.
Conference attendees discussed promoting the benefits of IT careers in the Canadian government. Service Canada spokesman Robert Charleau talked about the opportunities that the private sector doesn't offer including flexible working hours and holiday.
Canada needs skilled IT workers: The Canadian Visa Bureau can assist skilled workers interested in Canadian immigration. Anyone applying for a Canadian visa should begin by completing the online Canadian visa application to see if they meet the legislative requirements.
