Canadian visa holders get help with employment opportunities
The Government has announced the release of a resource for employers of Canadian visa holders. The resource, the Employer's Roadmap, is aimed to help employers recognise international training so that Canadian visa holders can get the jobs they are trained for.
Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister Jason Kenney has said the resource will help Canadian visa holders take full advantage of the labour market so that they may use their skills effectively. The resource is designed for employers to make it easier to assess the qualifications held by migrant skilled workers.
Andrew Cardozo, executive director of The Alliance of Sector Councils (TASC) said that the resource will help employers get more out of the Canadian immigration program.
"This is a practical resource that employers in any sector will find useful in helping to meet their staffing needs and improve their competitiveness in a rapidly changing economy," Cardozo said.
"The Employer’s Roadmap is exactly what is needed to make the process of hiring and retaining internationally trained workers a lot more efficient."
More specifically, the Roadmap will give advice on how to recruit the right Canadian visa holders, how to hire them, and how to assess and select the right skilled workers. The resource also gives advice on how to get the full potential from Canadian visa holders in the workplace, by integrated them successfully. There will also be information for employers on how to access national and regional resources for support.
The Roadmap is just part of a larger scheme called Canada's Economic Action Plan that has $50 million funding over two years, and is aimed at helping Canadian visa holders have their international skills recognised.
