Changes to Canadian immigration revealed

Canada's minister of citizenship and immigration Diane Finlay has released the principles which will guide the proposed changes to the Canadian immigration laws. Changes are being made in order to speed up the process of newcomers making the move over to the country with their families. The changes are also designed to give people moving through Canadian immigration to find work in the country sooner.

Minister Finlay said: "The instructions are about making the immigration system more responsive. Our objective is to continue to ensure that families are reunited and that qualified workers get here sooner, while respecting the fundamental principle of fairness." She added that the principles will make sure that ministerial instructions are "fair, open and transparent". All instruction made by ministers on Canadian immigration are to be published in the Canada Gazette and in an annual report from Canada immigration. Earlier this month Minister Finlay welcomed 50 new Canadians and their families at a citizenship ceremony at the Canada Museum of Science and Technology.

Canada welcomes new immigrants: The Canadian Visa Bureau can assist skilled workers interested in Canadian immigration. More information on Canadian visas is available on the website. Anyone applying for a Canadian visa should begin by completing the online Canadian visa application to see if they meet the legislative requirements.
