Latest survey reveals need for more Australian immigration

Calls to make changes to the Australian immigration system have been made, after it was revealed that the number of skilled workers going to Australia to work is decreasing. A survey by the Recruitment Services and Consulting Association (RSCA) has revealed that unless changes are made, of the 6,000 workers recruiters intend to bring in through Australian immigration, 3,586 will not go ahead.

RSCA spokesman Charles Cameron said: "If the policy was designed to respond to claims of exploitation of the skilled workforce they have certainly missed their mark; they are knocking out the technicians and managers keeping those services going and, in many cases, creating employment for Australians elsewhere."

The mining and healthcare industry is where Australian Immigration most needs skilled workers from abroad. Both of the jobs are found on the Australia Migration Occupation in Demand List, which outlines the kind of professionals most needed in Australia.

Australia needs skilled workers: Anyone applying for an Australian visa should begin by completing the Australian Visa Bureau's online Australian visa application to see if they meet the Australian visa requirements.
