Tourism Australia launches a new game on Go Ashes app
A fun new ‘Flick Cricket’ game has been launched on the Go Ashes iPhone app ahead of the Vodafone Ashes Series 2010-11 that will start on 25 November in Brisbane.
The Go Ashes iPhone app contains in-depth destination information on the five host cities and beyond, including image galleries, videos featuring Aussie cricketing legends Michael Bevan, Justin Langer, Chris Hartley, Darren Lehmann and Damien Fleming, a guide to eating and drinking in each city and must-see must-do events and activities recommendations.
Cricket fans can get the lowdown on the Series plus team news, results updates and live scoring as it happens. The app also contains a ‘Twickets’ section for cricketing Tweeters, as well as the new 'Flick Cricket' game.
Britons travelling to Australia for the Ashes, unless they have an Australian or New Zealand passport, must have an Australian Tourist Visa. The most popular of these visas is the ETA Visa or Electronic Travel Authority as it can be quickly applied for online and is approved almost instantly.
Tourism Australia General Manager (UK and Europe), Rodney Harrex says: “The Go Ashes app has been an exciting development for Tourism Australia and, along with creating a buzz for the forthcoming Ashes Series, it contains useful information for any holidaymaker travelling to Australia.
“We would encourage the travelling fans to have a go at some iconic Aussie experiences while they’re down there such as learning to surf, wine tasting and beach cricket. Getting to the outback is a must-do too.”
The app is free of charge, and can be downloaded from iTunes here.
