Australian Prime Minister unveils list of occupations in demand

The Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has revealed a list of 17 occupations which need employees the most in Australia. The list will be used to dictate the new training places which are being offered by the government, but may also act as a good guide for people considering Australia immigration. The 20,000 training-places to be offered are designed to help the country tackle its skills shortages.

Mr Rudd said: "By significantly increasing the skills base of the Australian workforce, the extra skills training-places will ease a capacity constraint in the Australian economy, and put downward pressure on inflation." Among the occupations on the list are mining, health and construction roles. People considering Australia immigration can also look at the Australia Migration Occupation in Demand List (MODL) which shows the occupations that are most in demand.

It was recently claimed by the Unite Future political party that people interested in Australia immigration are moving to New Zealand in order to improve their chances of being accepted into Australia.

Australia needs skilled workers: Anyone applying for an Australian visa should begin by completing the Australian Visa Bureau's online Australian visa application to see if they meet the Australian visa requirements.
