Industries 'awash with jobs' for Australian visa holders
A chronic skills shortage has left some industries awash with jobs and the Australian government is recruiting thousands more skilled workers to take up Australian visas and fill gaps in the labour market, reports the BBC.
There are concerns that without the thousands of accountants, health professionals and hairdressers migrating to Australia, the country's booming economy could falter due to the skills shortages experienced in many industries.
Australia's government continues to encourage skilled workers to apply for Australian visas to meet the shortages.
The official unemployment rate is just over four per cent, a 30 year low after 15 years of strong economic growth.
The conservative government has set out its objectives ahead of this year's general election and achieving full employment and keeping the economy performing are priorities.
Australia needs skilled migrants: Anyone applying for an Australian visa should begin by completing the Australian Visa Bureau's online Australian visa application to see if they meet the Australian visa requirements.
