Workers highlight the need for a valid Australian visa
Four foreign workers in Australia have highlighted the need to have a correct visa for the country. The immigrants were found to be working on Australian visas which are no longer valid and according to Senator Chris Evans will lead to them being fired from the company and deported from Australia.
Senator Evans said: "All will be transferred to the Maribyrnong Immigration Detention Centre in Melbourne and now face removal from Australia. These locations serve as further warning that people who are working illegally in Australia face detection." He added that after being deported people may be prevented from entering the country for up to three years.
The Minister added that the incident should serve as a warning to employers to check the details of their staff. He stated that "severe penalties" can be enforced for "people who hire workers who do not have valid visas".
Recently businesses in the country have been encouraged by Senator Evans to increase the number of sponsored Australian visas offered.
Australia needs skilled workers: Anyone applying for an Australian visa should begin by completing the Australian Visa Bureau's online Australian visa application to see if they meet the Australian visa requirements.
