The five-minute stint on the Oprah Winfrey show will appear today, and as part of a promotion an audience member of the Oprah show will win a trip to Queensland.
Winfrey interviewed Southall, 34, by satellite from his Hamilton Island base in the Whitsunday Islands in Queensland.
The Oprah appearance will be an Australian tourism coup, as the state will be promoted to more than seven million US TV viewers and in 145 countries.
Southall said the Oprah show had been a highlight of his work in Australia, a role he beat 20 thousand others to win.
"She spoke to me personally, and I thought, ‘Wow, this really is something’,” he said.
