Aviation training package launched to curb pilot shortage in Australia

Pilots are in need Down Under as the Australian aviation sector sees skills shortages. To address this problem the government is set to launch a new aviation training package to get more people into the industry, including skilled migrants arriving on an Australia visa.

The new aviation package offers trainees a set of qualifications which will make it easier for them enter the piloting industry and make a career in it. The scheme has also been set up specifically to make it easier for overseas students to enter the industry and train on Australian visas.

Anthony Albanese, the Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government, said: "The new package will be an important resource for trainers, registered training organisations, potential trainees and those already in the aviation industry." Both commercial plane and helicopter pilots are currently on the SOL list. Another new scheme has seen success lately, in the construction industry on the Sunshine Coast.

Australia needs skilled workers: Anyone applying for an Australian visa should begin by completing the Australian Visa Bureau's online Australian visa application to see if they meet the Australian visa requirements.
