Tourists invited to Tour Down Under in South Australia

Organisers of the Tour Down Under have started inviting overseas visitors to make the trek to South Australia for the tenth annual international cycle race, reports Opodo News.

Being the only ProTour race outside Europe, it is expected to attract 500,000 spectators.  The competition runs for six days and covers more than 800km of Australian landscape.

Most travellers to Australia need to apply for an Australia visa through the Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) system.  The system is considered to be the most advanced visa system in the world, and travellers can apply online in any country except Australia.

The race takes off January next year, but the South Australia Tourism Commission is actively campaigning now for travellers to include the Tour Down Under in their itinerary.
