The Australian Embassy in Kathmandu celebrated 50 years of diplomatic relations between Australia and Nepal this week, with a series of events and cultural exchanges.
The Australian Embassy hosted a concert on Monday evening with Sydney-based Latin Jazz band Tigramuna and Nepali musicians entertaining more than 200 friends of the embassy.
The embassy is also hosting a festival of contemporary Australian films for five days from Friday, which includes eight recent Australian feature films and six short films.
The films highlight the history, culture and contemporary values of Australia, and are a rare event for the Nepalese who have a more limited access to movies from Australia.
It is the eighth consecutive year of the Australian film festival in Kathmandu, and funds raised from the ticket sales will be donated to Tilganga Eye Centre.
The Australian Visa Bureau is an independent consulting company specialising in helping people lodge their Australian immigration applications with the Australian Embassy.
