Travellers must fill in Australian Census form
The Australian Census is due to take place on Tuesday 8 August, 2006, and all visitors in the country on that date are asked for their co-operation.
Australia is counting on all tourists, backpackers, business travellers and other visitors to participate. Absolute personal privacy is guaranteed. All information collected in the Census is confidential - by law.
Visitors must make sure they are included on a Census form, wherever they are staying on Census Night.
Visitors staying with friends or relatives, can be included on their Census form.
If staying in paid accommodation such as hotels, hostels, guest houses, caravan parks and serviced apartments, visitors will be given a Census form and instructions on how to complete it.
If camping, travelling overnight, or in any unusual locations, special arrangements have been made to give these visitors a Census form. Visitors are requested to complete the Census form as instructed by the people who deliver it.
The Census provides a snapshot of Australia and it is the best way to take stock. The Census provides information to the tourism industry to help plan for future service needs and facilities for Australians and visitors to Australia.
