Australian travel destined for truffle lovers in 2010
Australia will have not one but two truffle festivals in 2010, a sure-fire hit for gourmet food lovers.
The Canberra Truffle Festival will be held in June 2010, while the Mundaring Truffle Festival in Western Australia will take place on 7-8 August 2010, and to visit either of these two events overseas travellers who do not have an Australian or New Zealand passport will need to have an Australian Travel Visa.
The most popular Australian Travel Visa is the ETA visa, which is very easy to apply for and is almost instantly approved.
The truffle season is usually late May to early August and Australia has an emerging truffle production field, particularly in the Canberra area which closely matches the European black truffle growing areas of Spain, France and Italy.
In Canberra, the truffle festival in Canberra will feature hunts, tastings, truffle-grading workshops and dinners showcasing the diversity of the rare black truffle.
The Mundaring Truffle Festival, just 45 minutes’ drive from the centre of Perth, offers the opportunity to taste, buy and learn about fresh black truffles and participate in the Truffle Masterclass Series with high-profile chefs and growers.
