People wanting to emigrate to Australia 'need work experience'
People looking to emigrate to Australia should make sure they have work experience as well as the correct qualifications. According to ShelterOffshore, an expatriate lifestyle magazine, to be successful in getting a working visa for Australia work experience should be gained.
Rhiannon Davies, director of the magazine, said: "Even if you are degree qualified and you think this will guarantee you access to the nation, be aware that skills based on work experience are also required for the majority of working based visas." She added that those wanting to gain an Australian visa should apply well ahead as the process can take longer than some would expect.
Another point for Australian immigration hopefuls to consider is the distance between the UK and Australia, as many people do not consider this before leaving. Ms Davies said even though "culturally speaking" the country is close to home, it is not geographically.
Research has also found the average amount earned by expats is £67,000, compared to £47,000 in the UK.
Australia needs skilled workers: Anyone applying for an Australian visa should begin by completing the Australian Visa Bureau's online Australian visa application to see if they meet the Australian visa requirements.
