New office opened for Australian immigration

The Minister for Immigration and Citizenship, Senator Chris Evans, has officially opened the new Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) office in Western Australia.

A new office has been opened in Perth for Australian immigration.

"The new office in Western Australia creates the opportunity for all of the department's business in Western Australia to be conducted under the one roof for the first time in nearly a decade," Senator Evans said.

DIAC services in Western Australia had previously been split across two buildings and several floors for client contact but improvements to facilities in the new building mean there is more space to deal with clients face-to-face, significantly reducing client waiting times.

DIAC has a number of key objectives, including to promote Australian citizenship and to contribute to the country's future through managing Australian immigration.
