Australian Immigration ImmiTV celebrates second anniversary
The Australian Immigration Department has celebrated the second anniversary of its online YouTube channel, ImmiTV.
ImmiTV was launched in May 2008 to give viewer a greater insight into the Australian Immigration department’s programs and to reach a worldwide audience.
“As at 7 June, the site had received more than 75 000 hits, which is a 15-fold increase in just its second year, and it’s still growing,” a department spokesman said.
“While those numbers might not be up there with top 40 music clips or funny videos normally associated with big numbers on YouTube, it is certainly a very impressive result for a government department.
“Most importantly, there is a lot of very significant content in our programs being viewed regularly on the site and it’s a testament to the quality of the material being produced that so much interest is being generated.”
The most viewed clip on ImmiTV is the ‘VEVO (Visa Entitlement Verification Online) for visa holders’ which has recorded almost 12 000 views.
Other clips on the channel include the department’s role helping unite Congolese twins separated in a refugee camp.
