Tourism Australia has announced a new travel deal for time-starved Americans wanting to experience all the desirable destinations in Australia for a great price.

Australia tourist visa

A new tourism deal has been designed for American time-poor tourists. Visitors to Australia will need to apply for an Australa tourist visa before entering Australia.

The One Week Walkabout deals to Australia, offered by Travelscene and Qantas Airways, include round-trip air direct from LAX or San Francisco International Airport, accommodation for five nights in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane, and select touring experiences from only US$1,299.

Tourists will need to arrange their own Australian tourist visa, the most used of these being the ETA visa that allows the holder to visit Australia for up to three months for tourism purposes.

The One Week Walkabout vacation is ideal for busy people, with Australia’s cities and surrounds giving a  bite-sized taste of the entire country.

The program is designed to give more choice to visitors,  so travellers first pick Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane as the fly-in destination and from there choose between different touring options for the selected city.

For example, Melbourne’s Great Ocean Road option (three nights hotel in the city, two nights hotel on the Great Ocean Road, and three days car rental) gives a great touring option.

Or head to Sydney where you can either just explore the city (and get entry to Sydney Wildlife World or Sydney Aquarium) or do three days in Sydney and spend the other two with a car rental and hotel in the Hunter Valley wineries or the Blue Mountains.

Wildlife lovers can head to Brisbane and visit Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo as well as some of Australia’s best beaches on the Sunshine or Gold Coast.

With Australia only 14 hours away from the west coast, around the same as flying to Europe, an adventure is only a meal, a couple of movies and a sleep away.

ETA visas, which enable American tourists to visit Australia, can now be applied for online.
