More Australian visa holders flocking to Melbourne
The population of Victoria is booming with many on an Australian visa opting to move to the city. Melbourne, in the state, saw 62,000 people move to the city in the 2006-07 period, which is more than any other city in the country, even beating Sydney, News.com.au reports.
According to the Victorian Population Bulletin, three of the city's areas were ranked in the top ten growth areas of the country, the news organisation reports. However, officials in the region have warned the growth is increasing to its limit and rising road congestion and overwhelmed public transport are the ill effects of this.
John Brumby, premier of the state, told the news organisation: "I think we are probably at the limits of growth." Jeff Kennett, the former Premier, added Mr Brumby has not devised a plan on how to tackle the issues. Shelter Offshore has recently revealed many people choose to move to Australia for the laid back lifestyle.
Australia needs skilled workers: Anyone applying for an Australian visa should begin by completing the Australian Visa Bureau's online Australian visa application to see if they meet the Australian visa requirements.
