US Visa streamlining has been called for by a US offical.

Dr John P Holdren, Advisor to the US President on Science and Technology said there had been considerable achievements made to streamlining US Visa processes under the Obama administration but more needed to be done.

"Visas have been an appallingly pervasive problem in science and technology cooperation," he said.

The two-day meeting is the first Indo-US Joint Commission on Science and Technology where Indian and American scientists and officials will brainstorm potential areas of collaboration and how to address the major challenges.

Science and technology plays a key role in addressing the challenges being faced by both India and the US, Dr Holdren said.
