US immigration denies entry to Pete Doherty
Babyshambles singer Pete Doherty was refused entry into the US to play a one-off gig in New York, it has emerged.
The singer, who has a number of drug convictions, flew into JFK Airport, New York, before a gig with John Lennon’s son Sean but US immigration customs officials refused to allow his entry, and he was put back on a flight to London just hours later, The Sun has reported.
Doherty told pals he wanted to crack the States despite its strict ban on drug offenders. One said: "He thought he could get away with it. He was wrong."
Sean Lennon, 34, later spoke of his sadness at Doherty not joining him for last Thursday's show, which was a party hosted by model Irina Lazareanu.
