Take That stars Howard Donald and Mark Owen were detained by US customs officials in Los Angeles on Sunday because of a visa issue.

Howard Donald and Mark Owen were detained by US customs officials who believed they had come to the US to work.

The two travelled to Los Angeles to visit bandmate Robbie Williams at his Hollywood home but the singers were questioned by customs officials because they travelled with a tourist ESTA, rather than a work visa.

The ESTA is an online authorisation that allows travel to the US for tourism purposes.

The singers had to convince airport officials they were not there to work, and were eventually allowed in the country after being detained for a few hours.

Fellow bandmates Gary Barlow and Jason Orange were not on the trip.
