United States opens US Visa “green card” lottery today

The United States has opened its annual green card lottery today, opening up 50,000 visas for nationalities that otherwise might not have the opportunity to emigrate.

The US Visa green card lottery is now open for applications.

The annual lottery attracts more than 12 million US Visa applications from around the world.

Each year the US Government makes available 50,000 immigrant visas, drawn from a random selection among all entries from countries will low rates of migration to the US.

There is no charge to submit an application to the lottery, people who are selected in the lottery will be instructed on how to apply for immigrant visas for themselves and qualifying family members.

The US department of State have announced that this year only online applications for the lottery will be accepted.

Applications for Diversity Visa 2012 will be accepted only from noon Eastern Daylight Time [1600 Greenwich Mean Time] Tuesday, October 5, 2010 to noon Eastern Daylight Time [1600 Greenwich Mean Time], Wednesday, November 3, 2010
