Obama to give major speech on US Visa and immigration reform
President Barack Obama will give a major speech today on the US Visa and immigration system, calling for reforms.
“He thought this was a good time to talk plainly with the American people about his views on immigration," White House deputy spokesman Bill Burton said on Wednesday.
Obama will be speaking at the American University in Washington in an attempt to place new momentum behind US Visa and immigration reform including the securing of US borders and dealing with millions of illegal immigrants.
It is not believed that reforms will be acted upon this year with limited time before November’s elections.
Already tense political debate on US Immigration has increased in recent months, following the passing of Arizona immigration law which critics say encourages racial profiling.
